Trump Can Drive Turnout on Both Sides: Taylor

Bloomberg·October 30, 2026

Jessica Taylor, Senate and Governors editor for The Cook Political Report, says President Donald Trump is needed on the campaign trail to drive Republican turnout, but making the midterms about himself could also motivate Democrats and independents to vote against his party. Taylor says Cook moved Florida's Senate race from Solid Republican to Likely Republican because it expects a single-digit contest and says Florida could offer an early indication of how Republicans are performing nationally. Taylor says some states could produce different results in their gubernatorial and Senate races and that the bigger question in the closing days is which voters ultimately turn out. She speaks with Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz on Bloomberg’s "Balance of Power." (Source: Bloomberg)
