A Democratic sweep of Congress rippled across global markets, with stocks fluctuating while the dollar fell and Treasuries gained on bets the outcome will put the brakes on President Donald Trump’s agenda. Futures for the S&P 500 rose 0.2% while those for the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.3%. Both fell earlier before buyers stepped in. The dollar weakened against major peers, while 10-year Treasury yields fell three basis points to 4.93%. Europe’s Stoxx 600 climbed 0.6% and a gauge for Asian equities was little changed. The Opening Trade has everything you need to know as markets open across Europe. With analysis you won't find anywhere else, we break down the biggest stories of the day and speak to top guests who have skin in the game. Hosted by Anna Edwards, Guy Johnson and Tom Mackenzie.
